Kovacevich was natural within San Pedro, California to a Croatian father and an U.s. mother. At a age of Xviii he moved to London to study under Myra Hess on scholarship and has been the London resident since.

As a soloist & occasional conductor, he is probably better known for his interpretations on the core authoritative repertoire, including Ludwig van Beethoven, Franz Schubert and Johannes Brahms.
